Gift Aid

Thanks to Gift Aid, during 2006/2007 UK charities received an extra £830m to fund their work. If everyone had used Gift Aid, it could have been much, much more.

Using Gift Aid means that for every £1 donated, Chawton House Library gets an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation to go further. Gift Aid allows us to reclaim the basic rate of income tax you've paid on the donation. If you are a UK tax payer, this means £10 can be turned into £12.50, £100 into £125 and £1,000 into £1,250.

On top of this, higher rate taxpayers are eligible to reclaim as much as £23 from the taxman for every £100 donated to charity, by including details of their Gift Aid donations on their Self Assessment form.
